Hicks' Enigma
Would you like to be absolutely certain that your emails cannot be read by anyone other than your intended recipients? Do you have any documents on your computer that you want kept from prying eyes? If so, I have the solution to your problem.
During World War II, the Germans had a code machine called the Enigma (see photo, right). They thought that its coded messages were unbreakable. They weren't. The British managed to get hold of an Enigma machine and associated code books and, after a few setbacks, were reading German messages almost as soon as the Germans were. Hicks' Enigma works on the same principal as the German Enigma machine. What makes it different is that you select which keys to use and the order in which you use them. The initial version comes with five (5) keys. If you like it, and are willing to pay the $10 fee, you get a file of 100 keys. You and your recipient(s) ( they also need to have Hicks' Enigma) agree on the keys and the rotor settings, and I defy any unauthorized person to read your email.
Hicks'
Enigma (left) is modeled after the one used by the Kriegsmarine, with four rotors, or
keys. You enter the number of each key in each box along the top.
Then, you enter the letter settings in the four boxes, or rotors, right to left, then click the Enter Text button. A window will open where you can either type the text or copy and paste it from another source.
When done entering the text (try to keep it under 40,000 characters), click the Encrypt/Decrypt Button. Either instantly or shortly (depending on the length of the text) the encrypted/decrypted text will appear. You can then cut and paste it to wherever you want.
